Conferences

Bernward Geier started developing organizational skills already his teenage years by organizing folk festivals, rock concerts and art exhibitions. As Director of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture), besides countless workshops and seminars all over the world, he has organized about 50 international conferences. He was especially successful in creating synergies by winning for conferences e.g. FAO, UNEP, UNCTAD and many NGOs such as IUCN, WWF, Greenpeace as co-organizers. He is also very successful in attracting and contracting sponsors for the conferences.

Since 1984, Bernward has been responsible for the organization of 11 IFOAM Organic World Congresses, each with up to 2.000 participants, organic festivals (~30.000 participants). He was and is involved in major fairs and trade shows such as BioFach in Germany, Japan, USA and Brazil.

The most recent major international event he co-organized (with Udo Censkowsky of Organic Services and Fritz Lietsch of Altop Verlag) was the 1st International Conference on Sustainable Production and consumption in February 2009 in Nuremberg, Germany.

COLABORA organized in cooperation with IFOAM and other partners "the Inspiration on Living Change Conference" with 10 Alternative Nobel Prize Laureates at Bonn in September 2010.
